About Youth Redemption Organization

Youth Redemption Organization (YRO) is a registered nonprofit NGO based in Mpanda Municipality, Katavi Region, Tanzania. Founded on April 7, 2022 by Mr. Simon John, YRO was born from a deep commitment to transforming the lives of young people who face barriers to education, economic opportunity, and social inclusion.

We operate under the NGO Act No. 24 of 2002, and our programs are rooted in local realities — reaching youth in Mpanda and the surrounding districts of Katavi with practical, community-centered interventions.

Milestones along the way

From a single-room office in Mpanda to a recognized voice for youth empowerment in Katavi — here are the moments that shaped YRO.

  1. April 2022

    YRO is founded

    Mr. Simon John formally registers Youth Redemption Organization under NGO Act No. 24 of 2002, with Registration No. 00NGO/R/3028 and a base in Mpanda, Katavi Region.

  2. Late 2022

    First community programs launch

    Early programs focus on youth education and small-scale health awareness in Mpanda Municipality, delivered by a team of volunteers from the local community.

  3. 2023

    Scholarship program begins

    YRO awards its first scholarships to secondary and vocational students from underserved households in Katavi, pairing each recipient with a community mentor.

  4. 2024

    Expansion to surrounding districts

    Programs scale beyond Mpanda Municipality into surrounding Katavi districts. The team grows, and YRO formalizes partnerships with local schools, health offices, and women's groups.

  5. 2025

    500+ youth reached

    Over 500 young people have now participated in YRO programs across the region. The new Skills Workshop Series launches in Mpanda to mark the milestone.
