Youth unemployment in Katavi is one of the steepest in Tanzania. YRO's Entrepreneurship & Skills Training program turns that around by equipping young people with the practical skills, mindset, and starter capital they need to create their own livelihoods — and often, jobs for others.
Workshops are free, intensive, and run on a rolling calendar throughout the year. They combine classroom learning with mentor-led practical sessions, and graduates leave with a written business plan and a network of peer-entrepreneurs to lean on as they launch.
Program components
Our curriculum is built around three pillars: business literacy (pricing, bookkeeping, market research), trade skills (tailoring, agribusiness, mobile repair, food processing), and access to capital (helping graduates apply for micro-loans, grants, and SACCOS membership).
From workshop to working business
After graduating, the most promising entrepreneurs are paired with a business mentor for six months. We also host monthly meetups where alumni share what's working — and what isn't — and connect with potential customers, suppliers, and investors.
