Health information is power — and for young people in rural Katavi, accurate, judgment-free information about reproductive health, mental wellness, and disease prevention can be hard to find. YRO's Health Awareness program closes the gap with community-led campaigns, peer education, and free screening events.

We partner with local health centers, faith communities, and youth groups to bring conversations about health into spaces where young people already gather — markets, schools, sports fields, community halls. The goal: replace silence and stigma with knowledge and confidence.

What we cover

Our health curriculum addresses reproductive and sexual health, mental wellness and stress management, malaria and waterborne disease prevention, nutrition, and adolescent-friendly first aid. All content is delivered in Swahili and tailored to the local context by Tanzanian health workers.

Free screening events

Several times a year, YRO partners with the District Health Office to host free community screening days. Residents access free blood-pressure checks, malaria testing, HIV counseling, and basic nutrition assessments — all in a youth-friendly environment with peer educators on hand.
